Embrace It Aw
Our ‘Embrace it aw’ event was a night to remember.
The night kicked off with a great presentation by our SHE Voices group, who showed us what they had learnt about social media and its effects on women and their own personal journey on the Summer film project. This was the first screening of the film SHE Voices made ‘Women (Dis)Connected’ which was made using music by the wonderful singer songwriter Sharon Martin. Dr Kat Rezai from Edinburgh Napier University had the audience in stitches with her hilarious yet informative talk on social media marketing and its effects on women.
In the second half of the evening, we turned our attention to self-love. We watched a clip of the body positivity film: Embrace. After this our team made a self-love statement, banishing the negative comments themselves or other people had called and affirming their positive comments for the audience to hear. We then invited the audience to do the same!
In addition to a focus on these issues SHE celebrated its 4th Birthday! This evening was a chance to reflect on our achievements and what SHE has and can do for us all, reminding us of the power of women and to embrace ourselves unashamedly.
